In this project, I was tasked with designing a family room for a growing family with the goal to make it a shared, enjoyable space for everyone. Family rooms – especially those with young children – can easily become areas of stress, with toys scattered about and little room to relax. The challenge here was to make the space functional, beautiful, and easy to maintain.

The fireplace acts as the focal point of the room and helps separate the kids play area from the adult relaxation space. As quoted in a Yahoo Lifestyle article, “in this living room, the fireplace serves as a means of dividing the room into distinct zones: one for lounging and one for playing.”
